With an R-Value of 5.0 per inch of thickness, the board increases the energy efficiency of your structures. Plus it’s lightweight, easy to handle, and easy to cut with a knife. Use this insulation for below slab, cavity wall, and foundation applications. It meets and exceeds all Type IV and Type X specifications.

 

GreenGuard Type VI 40 PSI XPS Insulation Board

GreenGuard extruded polystyrene (XPS) does not absorb moisture and retains its insulating properties over time, making it an ideal exterior insulation. With an R-Value of 5.0 per inch of thickness, the board increases the energy efficiency of your structures. Plus, it’s light weight, easy to handle, and easy to cut with a knife. GreenGuard Type VI 40 psi Insulation Board is designed for use in high load applications requiring compressive strength up to 40 psi. It meets ASTM C 578 Type VI requirements.

 

GreenGuard Type VII 60 PSI XPS Insulation Board

Kingspan GreenGuard Type VII XPS Insulation Board comprises closed–cell extruded polystyrene (XPS) with a minimum compressive strength of 60 psi. It has high water resistance and R–value of 5.0 per inch of thickness. It is available in a square edge board or a drainage channel board.

 

Kingspan GreenGuard Type VII XPS Insulation Board is made of synthetic materials that are generally recognized as not providing a food source for insects, fungus, mold, or mildew. It should always be properly installed and stored. Kingspan GreenGuard Type VII XPS Insulation Board is HCFC free. 

 

GreenGuard XPS Drainage Channel Board

Kingspan GreenGuard Drainage Channel Insulation Board comprises closed-cell extruded polystyrene (XPS) and is available with a minimum compressive strength of 40 psi. It has high water resistance and R-value of 5.0 per inch of thickness. Drainage channels are cut along all 4 sides of the board at .5 inches deep and .25 inches wide. When placed facing down in a protected membrane roof assembly (PMRA), channels permit drainage of water that seeps through to the roof membrane.

Firestone ISO 95+ GL consists of a closed-cell Polyisocyanurate foam core laminated on both sides to a black glass reinforced mat facer of approx. 150 g/m². Firestone foam technology incorporates a HCFC-free blowing agent that does not contribute to the depletion of the earth’s ozone layer (ODP-free). Firestone ISO 95+ GL contains between 29 and 52% recycled material, depending on the thickness of the board.

 

As part of a Firestone Total Roofing System, Firestone ISO 95+ GL demonstrates a series of features & benefits:

  • Compatible with all types of single-ply roofing systems: ballasted, fully adhered and mechanically attached.
  • Suited for direct application onto steel roof, concrete or wood deck.

Method of Application

Before insulation is placed on the roof deck, the surface must be clean, dry, free of debris, water, ice or snow, and suitably prepared by removing all defects that might affect the quality of the application. Insulation shall be neatly fitted to all roof perimeters, penetrations and abutments. No more insulation shall be installed than can be covered with membrane and completed before the end of each day’s work or before the onset of inclement weather. The Firestone PolyIso insulation boards are suitable for adhered, ballasted and mechanically attached single-ply roofing systems.

 

Polyiso insulation boards must be installed by using fasteners and plates, hot bitumen or Firestone approved insulation adhesives.

  • Mechanically Attached System
    Fasten the insulation boards with a minimum of 5 approved fasteners and plates per 1.22 x 2.25 m board. Additional fasteners may be required due to the presence of air/vapour barriers, in areas of high wind loads and/or around the perimeter of the roof.  
  • Ballasted System
    For ballasted roof systems, the top layer of Firestone insulation may be loose laid or adhered.  
  • Fully Adhered System
    Number of fasteners per board needs to be determined based on a wind uplift calculation in accordance with local building codes and taking into account the following minimum requirements:
    • Thicknesses up to 40 mm: minimum 16 fasteners per 1.22 x 2.25 m board
    • Thicknesses up to 50 mm: minimum 12 fasteners per 1.22 x 2.25 m board
    • Thicknesses up to 100 mm: minimum 8 fasteners per 1.22 x 2.25 m board
